About Courtney
Courtney was a setter on the Furman volleyball team from 2004-2007. A two-time All-Southern Conference selection, she led the Paladin offense to a first-place league ranking in hitting percentage her junior and senior seasons. She holds the Furman record after posting a 12.42 assist average her senior season, and her career assist average of 11.61 still remains atop the Paladin leader-board. Courtney ranked third among the Furman career leaders with 4540 career assists and tenth among the single season leaders after posting 1379 assists her senior year.
Prior to her coaching time at Furman, Courtney spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Delaware. During the 2008 season, the Blue Hens picked up the program’s second consecutive CAA championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
A 2008 graduate of Furman with a degree in health and exercise science, Leagans earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Delaware in 2010. She is married to Daniel Leagans of Ware Shoals, S.C., who was a member of the Furman football team from 2006-08.
